WHAT I TEACH: I'm a Boston-based yoga teacher whose classes include Slow Flow, Prop & Align, Gentle, and Restorative yoga.
HOW I TEACH: With thoughtful sequencing and precise verbal cues, I help students understand the architecture of each pose in their own bodies (where their bones are in space and how muscles engage) and encourage them to pay close attention to anatomical and energetic nuances. I create a warm and inclusive environment where curiosity, honesty, and experimentation can come out to play while things like perfectionism and negative self-talk take a nap.
WHY I TEACH: After my first yoga class, more than twenty years ago, I was surprised how much clearer and happier I felt. So I went back the next week, and the week after that. After a while, my practice became daily because it was obvious that things just go a whole lot better on the days I do yoga than on the days I don't: I have more patience, feel more grounded, and am generally cheerier. I teach in order to help my students access similar benefits.
WHERE I TEACH: I teach at Coolidge Yoga in Brookline, Massachusetts. Twice a week, I assist in classes taught by senior teachers Masaaki Okamura and Kate Heffernan at Down Under School of Yoga. I also offer private instruction.
WHO TAUGHT ME: Some of the wise and generous teachers who have shaped my practice and influenced my teaching include: Kate O’Donnell and Rich Ray (Ashtanga); Rosie Richardson and Patricia Walden (Iyengar); Barbara Benaugh and Masaaki Okamura (Slow Flow); Kate Heffernan and Natasha Rizopolous (Intentional Sequencing). I completed both my 200-hour Teacher Training and 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training at Down Under School of Yoga. Currently, I'm studying Yoga for Brain Longevity through the Alzheimer's Research and Prevention Foundation.
ALSO: In addition to being a yoga teacher, I'm a writer. You can find information about my books, essays, and short stories at
